Have fun with famous TV Westerns and Western DVD collectibles

One of the most famous TV Westerns of all time was "Bonanza." The series ran for 14 seasons, from 1959-73, and ran the gamut from TV "horse opera" through serious drama. Who can forget Ben Cartwright (Lorne Green) and his sons ("Hoss" played by Dan Blocker, "Adam," played by Pernell Roberts, and "Little Joe," played by Michael Landon) and their life and adventures on the Ponderosa ranch, located in Nevada? Just for fun, here's a video I found of their rousing opening theme. Yes, I realize there was a vocal with lyrics and the whole she-bang done of the song after the series became a hit -- but this YouTube find was of the original instrumental that played during each episode's opening. Enjoy!

About Gary Speer

Gary Speer, aka "Old Hoppy," has been hanging around the Old West since way back when "Hoppy" meant "Hoppalong Cassady," the Clarence E. Mulford Western novel character transformed into a bona fide movie (and later TV) hero portrayed by William Boyd. Gary's "Old Hoppy" nickname came from fun loving friends and family members because of his love for the Old West -- and for all of the American Story in history.
